So glad that part is done!! Past the disappointment in my red not really being red... and really, how couldn't you be when you see all those colours!? Now, I guess I really should hold off on deciding what to do with it until after I spin it.. I mean really, it is rather disappointing to want a chunky yarn and wind up spinning a lace yarn.. that really is terrible. Still, I'm not sure at all what kind of yarn I want to spin anyway.

Holy wow!!! Decided after a rough morning I would splurge and buy some alpaca yarn.. but oh boy is it ever hard to not buy up the whole store hahaha...
So, after spending a pretty penny on 3 skeins of alpaca.. yes three.. because I just DON'T do one skein projects.. Not because I don't like them, but because I just cant make anything that small that I want. One day I'm sure I will go back on that, but for now, I want enough to do something huge and awe inspiring... OK, so maybe I'm exaggerating a bit, but I just cant buy one skein of anything!! I'm a yarn hog OK!

Anyway, I decided on a really nice shawl/wrap to wear with a dress I just finished (minus the buttons of course).. This dress was made solely to go with a pair of boots, so ya, I'm a bit nuts. But at least I'm smiling. A shawl will be nice anyway, especially since this dress is sleeveless.

I was also very pleasantly surprised to find out that my hand carders and wool were on their way.. I was getting a bit panicked since it was already taking so long... so, after getting off the phone with them, it shows up!! What odds eh... too funny.

Which brings me to my next endeavour. I wasn't sure if I had wanted to dye the wool or not.. and I guess I should start off with adding that it is a wensleydale... and did I mention I'm really excited?! So, to dye or not.. I think yes! Not sure how this will turn out, but considering my last few attempts at it, and having it work out well, it should be fun.
So, here I sit typing away when I really should get back in there and start the process... and yes, I will keep you posted!

6:20pm
OK... my red is not so red :(
Aside from my very bright magenta/pinkish red... there is yellow/orange, purple, green and a really nice blue (at least while sitting in the dye bath). That aside... I figure I will give it a while longer to do what it needs to do... Oh wow do I hope it works. Fingers crossed.

8:39pm
Just a few pics so far...
Top picture left to right: Purple, Blue, Orange/Yellow, Green.
The rest of the pictures... not exactly red, but it will do nicely :)

Making a facebook page is turning out to be interesting...
You can find me on facebook at PostApocalypticSkills. Hopefully, I will get it all figured out sooner than later, and with less confusion than expected haha. The page is up and running, there just isn't much on it just yet.
Keep checking back though, I will be adding to it over then next little while, and as often as I have something new.

I haven't been on my blog in a few days.. mainly because I don't have any finished projects to show off and really don't know what to say...

Been in between projects the past month.. My brilliant kitty decided, after not playing with yarn for months, that he just had to and I wound up keeping a close eye on him for a little over a week... Trying to get a cat to pass yarn is one of the least desirable things I've had to do as of late. Thankfully though, after he went through about 3meters of yarn, he bounced right back and is one happy and frisky kitty. So happy he is OK... but really have to keep track of my yarn now.. Poor guy anyway.

Now, I sit... tossing around a few sock ideas that never get anywhere... I think I'm just going to have to leave it for a while. The more I try to get it figured out, the harder it is to get any ideas going. While I take a break from it, I've been working on a sweater for my daughter. It really was supposed to be a test run for myself before I run out and buy or spin yarn for it.. but she really liked the colour, and me, well lets just say I'd rather not hahaha. So it has turned into hers. Might just be done in time for spring, but the added length to the body and sleeves should be OK even by fall. Either way, she is excited about it, and I'm sure she will wear it till its busting apart or unravelling.

Just thought I would share a few things I've finished off since the last post... seriously not good at keeping up with this blog at all!

First of is some yarn... finally!! It feels like forever until you hang it up to dry... OK, maybe weeks. But really really happy it's done.. and still have my yellow/orange to finish too!

Next is a baby blanket, that I swore a blue streak that I would never make again... but I really wanted to make something both beautiful and special for my cousin. She just had her very first baby.. Congrats to her!! So excited for her!

And finally, a really pretty scarf/cowl... Just had to take a look at the knitting magazines the last time I was at the store, and found that pattern. Very cute/pretty and just had to make it... had some extra cotton yarn that I needed to use.. don't think I like cotton socks.. but hey, made a really cute scarf/cowl!

I wound up with 177yards and 95.5grams.

This was a gift for a cousin who had her very fist baby.

So excited!!! Just got my camera back this afternoon and have taken a few pics of my yarn.. I guess I'm kinda turning into a huge yarn geek ha ha..

So, here are the pics of my yarn as promised...

OK, so aside from the very very first two balls of yarn.. this is what I've got spun and dyed!

Here is my latest creation!! I have no idea what colour to go with, yellow or orange.. Kind of a really nice mix of the two.. and very sunny and bright!

This is what my pot of muck turned into!!! Even though it is very dark, I am really loving it! Love how the colours range from purples to grey/purples.. It really turned out great.
